The "Fintail" (W111/W112) coupes and cabriolets, as the top of the line cars in their class in its time, were only upholstered in leather and we highly recommend to keeping it that way. As a highly valued and collectible car, changing the seats to vinyl will reduce the value of the car. Not only were the seats covered in leather, but each of them had a "basketweave" embossing on the middle of the seats and there were holes in between the pleats (see picture). World Upholstery makes these seat covers the correct way and doing otherwise will reduce the value of the car.

There are only 5 models of the Fintail Coupes/Cabriolets: 220SE, 250E, 280SE, 280SE 3.5 & 300SE. There were a few changes over the 11-year run of this model so it is important to give us the exact year and model of the car. The differences are not big enough to affect the total price but we still need to make sure that seat covers that you receive is what you need for your car so expect us to contact you and ask for additional details after you've place the order. Preparing pictures of your seats (including the back area of your front seat) will also help us make sure to make the process easier. Pictures are worth a thousand words. After more than 40 years of making kits for this car, we know every possible iteration of this iconic series of cars.

Basketweave with Holes

A Front Seat Cover Kit includes a pair of cushion, backrest, headrest and back panel covers. You can add headrest covers and armrest cover/s for an additional cost. Front headrests were not added until the safety regulation of 1969 and front armrests were optional. Both a large single armrest version and a smaller dual armrest version were available for the Fintail Coupes and Cabriolets. There were also long and short versions. We will ask for measurements if you add armrest covers to your order. In early 1961, before the cabriolets were even introduced, all the seat covers had 5 pleats. Later that year, it was changed to 4 pleats and that's what every Fintail Coupe and Cabriolet had until the end of the line in 1971. In 1969, a "pinch" was added at the end of the insert (see pictures).

A Rear Seat Cover Kit includes the bench cushion, the bench backrest and center armrest cover. Coupes and cabriolets' rear seats have slight dimensional differences but both had the same style. Like the front seats, there's a very early and rare version, found only in coupes, that had 5-pleat inserts but most had the standard 4-pleat version. Also in 1969, a "pinch" was added at the end of the insert (see pictures).

Front Seat Cover Kit for W111/W112 Coupes/Cabriolets

This Rear Seat Cover Kit includes:

While the rear seats for the Coupes and Cabriolets look the same, there are dimensional differences. Make sure to specify if you have a Coupe or a Cabriolet.

Rear Seat Cover Kit for W111/W112 Coupes/Cabriolets

These seat pads are made using rubberized coco fibers (also known as "Horsehair") justl like the original but using modern manufacturing methods and are actually more durable than the original pads. They used the same cushion pad for all the W111/W112 cars, even the sedans. The backrest pad had two versions: one for those with no headrests and one for those with headrests. Currently, we only have the backrest pad for those seats with headrest. This backrest pad has the same shape as the older version but you will need to make modifications to make it fit the backrest seat frame with no headrest.

Front Seat Pads for W111/W112 Coupes/Cabriolets

These springs assemblies, much like their seat pad counterparts, did not change much in the 11 years that they made the Fintail cars. The cushion spring assembly was the same from 1961 to 1971 while the backrest spring assembly is divided into two versions: no headrest (1961-68) and with headrest (1969-71).

These are re-built spring assemblies, not brand new. They are sand-blasted to remove rust, freshly painted and tested to make sure springs are still in good condition.
