1. Remove new carpet from its box, unfold and allow to relax to room temperature. Warmer carpet will allow easier positioning.

2. Inspect before cutting or marking to avoid voiding warrantee claims.

3. Remove door plates and seats.

4. Remove seat belts, disconnecting warning wire if so fitted.

5. Remove shift knob and center console if so fitted.

6. Loosen door post panels and kick panels if they are located over the old carpet.

7.  Compare to carpet received. Minor variations are to be expected. Do not discard until installation is complete.

8. BMW molded carpet is designed to fit over existing carpet, most other require removal of old carpet.  Vacuum entire floor and inspect padding.  Replace deteriorated or missing sections.

9. Place new carpet in car, adjust so that contours in car match contours in carpet.  Some padding adjustment and/or relief of edges may be necessary to get a perfect fit.

10. Cut holes for gear shift/console, dimmer switch, seat belts, accelerator, and seat belt warning wire as necessary.

11. Slip carpet under door post and kick panels trimming where necessary. Tighten panels.

12. Replace seat belts and warning wire if fitted.

13. Replace center console, shift knob and if supplied pedal escutcheon plate.(2002)

14. . Position and glue in place rear wall (3 series) and new kick panels (2002-3 series)if supplied

15. Trim edges of carpet under door sill plates and reinstall sill plates.

16. Re-install seats.
